Frequency & Number of Counselling Sessions:

One-Off: Sometimes, we just need someone to help us with one specific issue. One session may be all you need to have your issues heard, and some questions asked to realign your thinking and direction. Or maybe you have had individual or couple counselling with your partner for several sessions and just need a quick check-in like a WOF check-up.

3 - 4 Sessions: One session may open more issues than you thought and you may find 3-4 sessions more adequate to help you get back on track and live the life you want to be living.

6 - 12 Sessions: Relationship work with couples generally takes longer. Two or more people and years of getting off track with each other. Patterns of negative behaviour and communication can change, but it takes a bit of time. It is worth the work.

Individual work over a period of weeks to change default moods

, long-held limiting beliefs, or trauma issues can also take time.

We can discuss the frequency and number of sessions that would be most helpful at your first session. If possible, weekly is best, especially initially, but depending on your schedule and available funds, we'll work out a plan that helps you do the work you want to get done, either individually or in your relationships.

Cancellation Policy:

Please cancel your appointment outside of 48 hours of your scheduled appointment. This allows someone else to have the slot. If you cancel within 48 hours, you will be charged 50% for the session.

Confidentiality:

Confidentiality is an important part of counselling. You need to feel safe and comfortable to share your private or intimate issues or concerns. At Heart and Mind, you will experience a welcoming and safe environment in quiet and private premises.

As a member of a professional counselling body, I adhere to a strict code of ethics where confidentiality, respect, and care are assured.

The exception to this confidentiality is where there may be a threat to the safety of others or oneself.

If I have any concerns regarding this, I will discuss it with you and with your consent make a plan on who we can call on to get the help you need.

As a professional counsellor, I am trained to listen with interest and attention to detail.

I am respectful, empathic and non-judgmental.

I will let you know in our first session if I feel that your concerns are beyond my ability to help, and there will be no charge. I will refer you to someone who has specialist skills to take you forward.
