Pre-marital Counselling

Preparing to get married or move in together? Planning to make this a long-term commitment - a lifelong thing? Well done - that's awesome. Our forever commitment is easy at the beginning but can get hard in the middle season. I'm sure you have talked through all your hopes and dreams - but there may be some areas that would be helpful to unpack and consider. You are investing your lives together, so come and invest 6 sessions to lay the foundation for a lifetime.

Pre-marital counselling is a form of couples therapy that can help you and your partner prepare for marriage. It is intended to help you and your partner discuss several important issues, ranging from finances to children so that you are both on the same page.

Premarital counselling helps identify core beliefs, set realistic expectations for marriage, plan for the future, and decide how your lives can come together.

Some benefits counselling can offer:

  • Learn constructive communication: A core aspect of premarital counselling is communicating                           what's happening for you: conveying your position clearly without attacking                                            or arguing with the other person

  • Develop conflict resolution skills: Premarital counselling can help you and your partner develop or learn problem and conflict-resolution skills.

  • Understanding different needs men and women have in relationships

  •  Identify unhelpful behaviours and patterns that you bring into the relationship and work through them.

  •  Build decision-making processes: Premarital counselling can help you and your partner develop healthy and equitable decision-making processes.

  •  Alleviate fears related to marriage: If you or your partner are anxious about what married life will entail, premarital counselling can help you discuss important issues and give you some clarity.
